Synopsis
Vocational Education enhances economic and social growth, with training and retraining opportunities for the workforce both locally and internationally.

The rapid transformation of the world has resulted in the workforce having to adapt to survive, and learn new skills in preparation for better long-term employment security.

This book focuses on the basics of Vocational Education and its effect on competition, distance training, policy decisions, curriculum and material design.

About The Author
Rosalia Wong was born in Malaysia, migrated to Australia in 1982, and grew up in Brisbane, Australia. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Arts from Newcastle University and a Master's degree from Griffith University.

Rosalia is the author of Web-based Learning and Teaching, An Unforgettable Journey, Education: A Study Of Teaching English As A Foreign Language In Large Classes In China (writing as Rosalia Lei), and the Kimberley Shu young adult fantasy series.

From The Book
Vocational education is not just about education but whether or not the education is beneficial to the society as a whole. Does it enhance the economic and social growth of a nation? Does it involve international competition, to educate, train and retrain the workforce with the involvement of societies to provide the necessary instruction? Litowitz and Warner (2008) compared vocational education and technological education. They concluded that the former focuses on trade preparation, whereas the later is about the study of knowledge related to technology...

Moran and Rumble (2004) argue that with the rapid transformation of the world human beings are required to adapt in order to survive; to process information and learn new skills in preparation for better employment. Lifelong learning is a good practise for vocational education as the skills of workers can be retrained so as to catch up with the increasing demands of the modern world.
