Synopsis
After their momentous battle at Kenilworth Castle, many of the Demon Hunters became immortal soldiers in the Armed Forces of Bouicandeni. With the fight against evil still raging, a call for new recruits was issued and a team of fresh-faced girls arrive at Maidenscombe Manor to be trained in the fine art of demon hunting. They would be the new Merry Maidens, carrying the torch for their predecessors as they fought forces both known and new.
With the Devil herself extending an apparent olive branch, and other creatures from legend also lending their assistance, this remarkable new alliance releases a sense of hope into the world, where evil can not only be contained, but also destroyed.
But everything in life and death has a price, and for some, debts would be repaid in unusual ways...
From the author of The Demon Hunters comes an all-new adventure filled with vampires, demons, gods...and lashings of tongue-in-cheek humour!
About The Author
John H. Barnes lived in the village of Collaton-St-Mary before moving a few miles to the village of Ipplepen, about four miles from Totnes, South Devon, and has travelled to many of the towns, stone circles and castles mentioned in the Demon Hunter books.
John moved to Australia more than twenty years ago. As a result of his involvement with several Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades he is now an Honorary Life Member of the V.B.F.B. in the Shire of Mundaring, Western Australia, and was awarded the National Medal for his service to volunteer bush fire brigades.
For a long time now, the supernatural has been of great interest to him, and this is indicative in his writings.
From The Book
A line of taxis pulled up outside the majestic manor house, leaving eleven young women standing on the kerbside alongside their luggage.
"I suppose it was a bit hopeful of me thinking the drivers would carry the suitcases inside for us," one of them said.
The girls entered Maidenscombe Manor – some of them excited, most a little nervous – and were met by Graeves, Tom and Pitts, who quickly directed them into a vast library.
Scherry studied their faces as they lined up in front of her. "Girls, I’d like you all to listen to me please. You have been chosen to study here, although you will not be taught as you were in school. We are more relaxed in our methods here, and many of our subjects are not what you would class as normal. Within you is the requirement to be what we need of you, and later today, you will know what those requirements are..."
All the girls nodded in unison.
"...Take time to learn about the house and its secrets, and go for a walk in the grounds. This afternoon we will be conducting tours, so I suggest you use that time wisely, and if you happen to find any secret passages, remember not to tell the others. They are called secret passages for a reason!"
