Synopsis
Sax Webor is a model citizen of post apocalyptic 2220, a shining light in a society that has turned its back on greed, excess and indolence. Like any good citizen would, Sax volunteers to assist in a new, experimental mind transference program, aimed at showing both participants the other side of life.

Years earlier, laws had been passed making several types of anti-social behaviour unacceptable. These included the use of chemicals as stimulants, time wasting, and overindulgence in food.

Convicted felon, the corpulent Cyrox 'Hog' Mannay is Sax's allocated transfer partner. While the transfer is in progress, an errant rodent short circuits the system, and when Sax awakes, to his horror, he finds himself trapped inside Mannay's overweight and unlawful frame.

Seizing the opportunity, Mannay escapes, while Sax wanders the city in despair, desperate to retrieve his stolen body.

About The Author
Alan C. Hughes was born and raised in Berri, in the Riverland area of South Australia, later moving to Adelaide, where he worked for many years as a public servant, before returning to the country.

Together with his wife, Alan has managed general stores and post offices, and most recently, an Antiques and Second-hand business in Wallaroo, on South Australia's Copper Coast.

Having previously released a collection of poetry entitled By The River, when not writing, Alan is a country music presenter on Community Radio, and also enjoys fishing or a round of golf.

From The Book
The room was bare except for two padded couches, which looked for all the world like the pilot's seat in a moon shuttle. Suspended from the ceiling at the head end of each, a helmet-shaped arrangement hung from an imbroglio of wires. One end of the room was a glass window, through which Sax could see white-coated technicians seated in front of a massive bank of screens and controls. Garner waved towards the window.

"That’s it," he said, with just a tinge of pride in his voice. "That’s BETA – Brain Element Transference Apparatus. Of course, that’s only the control module; the mainframe is housed in two sub-basements of the building."

He glanced at the worried look on Sax's face. "There’s absolutely nothing to be afraid of, you know," he reassured. "There’s no pain or discomfort. All you have to do is lie down on one of the couches..."
